Five Regional Transportation Infrastructure Hearings Planned in January

The Alabama Legislature’s Joint Transportation Committee will partner with local business and community leaders to hold five regional meetings in January to gather information on Alabama’s infrastructure needs in order to maintain safe, quality roads and bridges.

The meetings are scheduled as follows with all meetings beginning at 10:00 a.m. and concluding at noon:

Jan. 7 in Northport,
Jan. 19 in Hoover,
Jan. 21 in Huntsville,
Jan. 26 in Mobile
Jan. 28 in Dothan.

The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama will host the first meeting for the West Alabama region at the Northport City Hall, 3500 McFarland Blvd. You may RSVP.

The guest Jan. 7 will be Alabama Department of Transportation Director John Cooper.

“The meetings will help guide the future of Alabama’s arteries of transportation that move our lifeblood of commerce, business, and manufacturing to markets both within and without Alabama,” BCA president and CEO William J. Canary said. “Timed perfectly before the February start of the 2016 regular legislative session, the meetings offer the public, local officials, business leaders, and their employees to opportunity to provide input and learn about Alabama’s important surface transportation system.”

The efficiency of Alabama’s highways and bridges is critical to a healthy state economy that depends on ease of access for customers, markets, material, and workers, according to an August 2014 TRIP study of Alabama’s needs
