MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Jan. 9, 2015) – Business Council of Alabama member Caddell Construction Co. of Montgomery has been awarded a nearly $200 million contract to design and build a U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, the company announced Friday.
The project includes a new office building, a U.S. Marine residence, an American Cultural Center, a warehouse, facilities for the embassy community, staff residences and facilities for the chief of mission and deputy chief of mission.
The embassy will be located on a 17-acre site just outside the city of Ashgabat in what the company describes as “a very high-profile district.” Features will include landscaping and paving, window systems with architectural sun screens, and stone cladding.
The $196.5 million contract was announced last week and work is expected to take 44 months.
In recent years, the company has built a $136 million embassy annex in Moscow, a $675 million embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, and a $125 million embassy in The Hague, Netherlands.
The majority of Caddell’s work has been for federal customers including the U.S. State Department, the GSA, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Department of Energy, and all branches of the U.S. military.
A diverse company, Caddell also serves private industry, building major power plant complexes, manufacturing plants, chemical plants, hotels, and commercial and retail facilities.
In addition to projects listed above, Caddell projects include the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, renovations to the Denver Mint, Terminals A & C at Houston’s George Bush International Airport, three unique advanced technology facilities for the Spallation Neutron Source Program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Power & Desalination plant at Ascension Island, and, the “Patton” Command & Control Headquarters Complex at Shaw AFB.
