BCA ProgressPAC Announces Endorsement of Garrett Dixon in House District 38 Special Election

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – ProgressPAC, the Business Council of Alabama’s pro-jobs political affiliate, announced today its endorsement of small business owner Garrett Dixon for the Alabama House of Representatives District 38 seat in the upcoming special election on October 21.

Dixon is a sixth-generation farmer and lifelong resident of Salem, where his family’s roots run deep. Known for his integrity, active role in the community, and practical understanding of rural economic needs, he is well-positioned to be a strong advocate for business-friendly, pro-growth policies in the statehouse.

“Garrett Dixon is exactly the kind of candidate we need in the Legislature—someone who understands the heartbeat of rural Alabama, values hard work, and brings real, lived experience to public service,” said Horace Horn, ProgressPAC regional chair and Senior Vice President of External Affairs at PowerSouth Energy.

Horn continued, “As a small business owner, he has a clear perspective on the challenges employers face every day. We are confident he will bring that same work ethic and problem-solving mindset to the Legislature on behalf of House District 38.”

Governor Kay Ivey called for a special election following the resignation of Representative Debbie Wood, who relocated out of the district due to her husband’s career.

“Dixon’s success in building and sustaining his own business has given him firsthand insight into both the agricultural and economic challenges of entrepreneurship, particularly in rural communities,” said Helena Duncan, President & CEO of the Business Council of Alabama.

Duncan continued, “His practical, business-minded approach will ensure that District 38 remains well-represented in Montgomery with leadership that prioritizes jobs, growth, and economic prosperity.”

The special primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, 2025; the special primary runoff, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025; and the special general election is set for Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
