Under New Leadership, Business Council of Alabama Continues as Powerful Voice of Alabama Businesses

Helena Duncan began her new role as President and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama (BCA) on December 1st, and she has hit the ground running as the head of Alabama’s most effective pro-growth and pro-jobs advocate.

Duncan joined BCA in 2020, as Director of Strategic Operations and Growth, bringing over 30 years of experience in the financial industry. She was promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations and Investor Relations before taking the helm at the organization’s recent annual meeting. She is the fourth President and CEO of the 37-year-old association and is the first African-American woman to head the group.

Helena learned the financial services industry from the ground up. She started as a bank teller and moved through a progression of positions including Regional President at Liberty Bank and Trust. During this period, she witnessed the struggles of main street businesses firsthand, as she worked to help meet both needs and opportunities of business owners. Many of those main street businesses she worked with closely are impacted by the pro-jobs and pro-growth legislation introduced and encouraged by BCA.
