Today’s decision by the Supreme Court to uphold the Affordable Care Act, including its individual mandate that virtually all Americans buy health insurance, is a blow to taxpayers, employers and our economy.
The health care law will be financially devastating for many small businesses. As we continue to work get our economy moving in the right direction, creating layers of penalties and taxes on job creators is counterproductive.
The fact is health care costs are continually rising, and this law does not have a significant impact on costs for years. Full repeal of the Affordable Care Act is a legislative priority of the Business Council of Alabama, and the BCA applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for scheduling a vote on repeal of this law next month.
