So, why is a BCA membership important? How do I benefit?

Across the country, reportedly 85 percent of businesses that fail are not members of their particular industry association or a business trade association, such as the Business Council of Alabama (BCA). And when discussing the opportunity to invest in an association, some business owners or managers might say their schedule is demanding enough, and the thought of adding one more activity to their busy calendar is unbearable.

So, why is it important to invest as a member in the BCA? One of the best reasons to belong to the BCA is the great job our team does at keeping BCA members abreast of important, ever-changing issues, trends and legislation. As important, the BCA is your voice in the legislature.

Another benefit of BCA membership is the opportunity to network at our conferences, receptions, dinners, partnership summits and other important meetings where business relationships can emerge. This can translate into business referrals and other successful interactions that come along months after meeting.

While it may be good for your company to belong to an association related to your field, it only covers the legislative or regulatory issues unique to your specific group. The BCA plays two supplementary roles. First, the BCA brings the collective clout of its economy-wide membership to bear on sector-specific issues, increasing the visibility and depth of our support. Secondly, the BCA fills in the gaps of business issues that might exceed the scope of another association’s missions or expertise. It should be noted the BCA collaborates with many other statewide associations and has developed a reputation as one of Alabama’s most powerful and well-respected business advocates.  We work hard for that recognition and are proud of it!

Regardless of the specific issue, businesses and industries continue to face legislative and regulatory challenges, and it is a fact that our members benefit enormously from BCA’s lobbying efforts and guidance. The BCA appreciates the support and commitment of businesses who join us as we stand up for what’s right and help to make Alabama a great place to live, work and raise a family!

If by chance you’re not a BCA member…give us a call and we can make it happen!
