The voice for Alabama businesses.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has issued a video message thanking the Business Council of Alabama and BCA’s members for helping ensure Alabama was counted in the 2020 Census.
This comes after the U.S. Census Bureau in recent weeks announced that Alabama significantly beat expectations with its statewide count, resulting in the state retaining seven seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The state-level population count showed that Alabama has grown to a total population of 5.03 million, representing a growth of approximately 5.2% since 2010. That was significantly more than the 2.6% growth estimated by the Census Bureau previously.
Since the State of Alabama’s efforts ahead of the 2020 Census began in 2017, BCA has actively worked with governmental, civic and business community partners to underscore the importance of being counted and encourage participation.
Governor Ivey said BCA’s assistance was integral in Alabama’s successful Census efforts.
This is merely the latest example of the BCA’s advocacy and members services paying off for hardworking Alabama families. BCA is focused on helping our state move forward, fostering a 21st century economy in which all Alabamians can thrive.
