SUMMARY:Evening for Progress
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nThe Business Council of Alabama (BCA) will hold its annual Evening for Progress on Monday\, October 3\, at the Sheraton Hotel in Birmingham. This year’s event will honor U.S. Senator Richard Shelby for his service to Alabama and the nation\, and joining BCA as a special guest to recognize Senator Shelby will be U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell\, the United States Senate Republican Leader. \nThroughout the event\, BCA will highlight Senator Shelby’s historic legacy as Alabama’s longest serving Senator\, celebrating his 44 years of service in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. During his career\, he has served as the former chairman and current vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations; the chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration; and chairman of the Senate Banking\, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee; and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. After an outstanding tenure\, Senator Shelby is leaving office following the current election cycle. \nJoining BCA as a special guest for the evening will be U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell\, the United States Senate Republican Leader. Senator McConnell is the longest-serving Senate Republican Leader in American history having been unanimously elected eight times since 2006. First elected to the Senate in 1984\, McConnell is Kentucky’s longest-serving senator. TIME Magazine has twice named Senator McConnell as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. \nProceeds from the event supports ProgressPAC\, the political affiliate of the BCA. See investment levels here. \nContributions to either BCA or ProgressPAC are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
