FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MONTGOMERY—The chairman of the Business Council of Alabama on Wednesday announced that world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon and New York Times best-selling author Dr. Ben Carson and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee will be the keynote speakers at the BCA’s annual 2013 Chairman’s Dinner that will be held on September 30 in Birmingham.
“We are excited to welcome to Alabama these two accomplished Americans who each have an amazing story to tell,” said BCA chairman Carl Jamison, shareholder at JamisonMoneyFarmer, P.C. in Tuscaloosa. “As we approach election season, their unique insight will provide a glimpse of what we can expect to hear from candidates on the state and national level and their vision for this country.”
Dr. Ben Carson’s vision for America swept the nation following his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in February. Carson currently serves as a full professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Carson is president and co-founder of the Carson Scholars Fund, which recognizes young people of all backgrounds for exceptional academic and humanitarian accomplishments. The Fund is currently operating in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, having awarded more than $5 million dollars to more than 5,000 scholars. He is the author of five books.
Governor Mike Huckabee is the host of the number one rated weekend hit “Huckabee” on the Fox News Channel and Cumulus Media Networks’ syndicated radio program, The Mike Huckabee Show, heard on more than 175 stations. From 1996-2007, Huckabee served as the 44th Governor of Arkansas. After his campaign for the Republican nomination for President in 2008, in which he finished second to John McCain, he formed HuckPAC to assist conservative Republicans running for office nationwide and has amassed a volunteer team with thousands of activists in all 50 states. He is the author of nine books.
The Chairman’s Dinner is an annual event to recognize the significant volunteer work throughout the year of the chairman of BCA’s board of directors. This event also honors the investors of the Carrying the Flag for Business Campaign, the fundraising campaign of BCA’s non-partisan political arm ProgressPAC. The members of the Business Council of Alabama believe that in order to promote the maintenance of the free enterprise system, there should be an opportunity for widespread participation in the political process by member companies of the BCA and their employees.
The Business Council of Alabama is Alabama’s foremost voice for business. The BCA is a non-partisan statewide business association representing the interests and concerns of nearly one million working Alabamians through its member companies and its partnership with the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama. BCA is Alabama’s exclusive affiliate to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers.
