BCA Publishes Fourth Book Detailing Legislative Session

A Behind-the-Scenes Account of BCA’s Fight for the Private Sector

MONTGOMERY—The Business Council of Alabama announced today it has published its fourth volume in a continuing series of annual accounts of BCA’s commitment to the private sector.

The 283-page volume chronicles the past year of the Business Council of Alabama providing a detailed account of the 2012 session of the Alabama Legislature as well as behind-the-scenes stories of the accountability of the legislative process.

“This book is a great reminder of how hard the BCA team works on behalf of Alabama businesses each and every day,” said BCA President and CEO William J. Canary. “In 2010, the BCA ignited a true clash of ideas detailed in the book ‘What If No One Were Watching?’ which drew a line in the sand between pro-business and anti-business forces. The follow-up book, ‘A Blueprint for Progress: 2011,’ sharpened the vision of the business community into a blueprint for putting the private sector first.  This year, using this blueprint, BCA has begun building ‘The Foundation for Progress.’”

Subtitled “BCA in the Fight for the Private Sector,” the book archives, in 14 chapters, how the BCA built upon the blueprint and began laying a foundation upon which businesses in Alabama may continue to grow and expand.  In addition to detailed commentary of how legislation fared in the session, the book also includes photos documenting BCA’s events and advocacy of the past year, BCA’s 2012 State and Federal Legislative Agendas, several position papers and op-ed columns written for the state’s newspapers, and several appendix articles highlighting BCA’s close partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Manufacturers and the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama.

Through an arrangement with BCA member Books-A-Million, the volume is available for purchase in Books-A-Million stores. For the first time in BCA’s history, a digital version has been made available exclusively for our members through Kindle and the iBooks app on iPad.

The Business Council of Alabama is Alabama’s foremost voice for business. The BCA is a non-partisan statewide business association representing the interests and concerns of nearly one million working Alabamians through its member companies and its partnership with the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama.  BCA is Alabama’s exclusive affiliate to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers.
