MONTGOMERY, Ala. Business Council of Alabama President and CEO William J. Canary issued a statement following the news of the death of former Labor and Revenue Commissioner Tom Surtees:
“We at the Business Council of Alabama (BCA) are saddened at the death of former Labor and Revenue Commissioner Tom Surtees,” said BCA President and CEO William J. Canary. “Tom was the epitome of a public servant who tirelessly worked to improve the lives of Alabamans and accurately and fairly administer Alabama’s tax laws setting a standard of integrity that will never be equalled. Tom was a member of our BCA family during his activism in the private sector creating jobs for Alabamians and my friend. Our prayers are with his family while Alabama mourns his passing.”
