MONTGOMERY, Alabama – The President and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama today issued a statement following the news of the death of Paul Hubbert, the former long-time executive secretary of the Alabama Education Association:
“When I think about Dr. Hubbert, respect is the one word that comes to mind,” said William J. Canary, President and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama. “He was clearly inspired by Psalm 127:3…’Children are a gift from God’ and devoted his life’s work to those who lift up our children.
“First and foremost he was a teacher. He taught me to advocate with passion, he taught me that kindness was never a sign of weakness, he taught me that an individual association can make a difference, and he taught me that it is never too late to stand for what you believe.
“He was guided by a deep love for his profession, a love of Alabama, and most importantly a love of his family. Our prayers are with Ann and his entire family at this terribly difficult time.”
