BCA Endorses Recommendations in Medicaid Advisory Commission

March 7, 2013

Dear Governor Bentley,

The Business Council of Alabama (BCA) endorses the recommendations outlined in the final report of the Alabama Medicaid Advisory Commission. The BCA is a non-partisan statewide business association representing the interests and concerns of over 750,000 working Alabamians through its member companies.  We thank you for your foresight in creating this important Commission and in allowing BCA’s participation in the process.

The Commission thoroughly reviewed the available options for reforming the Medicaid Agency and made some difficult choices to arrive at its recommendations that promote and ensure access to quality health care, supported by a sustainable, long-term funding structure.  The Commission’s recommendations are community-driven, based on the development of regional care management capacity that will be accountable for health outcomes across a continuum of care, which should eventually shift financial risk from the state to regional organizations.

The BCA welcomes the opportunity to continue to work with your administration to craft an efficient health care delivery system that assures all Alabamians access to quality health care.

With every good wish,

William J. Canary, President/CEO
Business Council of Alabama

Cc: Carl T. Jamison, BCA Chairman
