POINT CLEAR, Ala. – The board of directors for ProgressPAC, the political action committee of the Business Council of Alabama, has endorsed two statewide judicial candidates who are up for election in 2016. Both are currently associate justices of the Alabama Supreme Court:
Supreme Court Associate Justice Michael F. Bolin
Supreme Court Associate Justice A. Kelli Wise
“Both of these justices have a proven track record of being fair and impartial while serving on the bench,” said ProgressPAC Chairman Tommy Lee, president and CEO of Vulcan, Inc. “Their commitment to the rule of law and conservative judicial philosophy made the decision to endorse early an easy one.”
Justice Bolin was a practicing attorney in Birmingham from 1973 through 1988, when he was elected as Probate Judge of Jefferson County. He was re-elected to that position in 1994 and 2000. He served in that position until his election to the Alabama Supreme Court in 2004, and began serving as an Associate Justice in January 2005.
Prior to her election to the bench, Justice Wise served as a staff attorney on the Court of Criminal Appeals and the Alabama Supreme Court. Justice Wise was first elected to the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals in 2000. She was re-elected to the court in 2006 and became Presiding Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals in 2008. Justice Wise was elected to the Alabama Supreme Court in 2010 where she received the highest vote of any contested statewide candidate.
