Back Forty Beer Named First-Ever Recipient of Business Council of Alabama Initiative Award

AUBURN, Ala. (April 8, 2016) – Concluding an unprecedented initiative that began last summer, Back Forty Beer Company in Gadsden has been named winner of the “Small Business Game Changer” by the Business Council of Alabama and Auburn IMG Sports Marketing, Auburn University Athletics’ multimedia rights holder.

The BCA aligned with Auburn IMG Sports Marketing to create “Small Business Game Changer,” a valuable opportunity for a state-based business with 50 or fewer employees to gain significant exposure among a passionate and loyal Auburn Tigers’ fan base.

The BCA and Auburn ”Small Business Game Changer” opportunity was announced last year prior to Auburn’s first 2016 home football game at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Small businesses entered by submitting in 150 words or less why a 2016 Auburn football sponsorship would be a “Small Business Game Changer” for them.

The winner will be announced during the 2016 A-Day Spring Game at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Jason Wilson, owner of Back Forty Beer Company, and BCA Chairman Tommy Lee, president and CEO of Vulcan, Inc. in Foley, will be on hand as Wilson and his business receive corporate partner benefits during the upcoming football season.

The Auburn University football corporate sponsorship includes game tickets and exposure through the gameday publications and radio.

“The Business Council of Alabama knows that small businesses provide the majority of jobs for Alabamians and in so doing are the economic engines of the state,” said Business Council of Alabama President and CEO William J. Canary. “A corporate partnership with Auburn Athletics will be a game-changer for Back Forty Beer Company and is just another way the BCA provides small businesses the recognition they deserve. The BCA is so proud we partnered with Auburn University to offer the Small Business Game Changer contest.

“Winning the BCA’s Small Business Game Changer Competition will have a profound impact on the future of Back Forty Beer Company.” said Founder and President, Jason Wilson. “As a fifth-generation Alabamian and graduate of Auburn University, I honestly can’t imagine a more meaningful way for Billy Canary & the BCA to recognize the hard work and passion that our staff has showcased over the last seven years.  We are proud members of the BCA, and can’t wait to share our story with the Auburn Family at Jordan-Hare Stadium.”

“This is an ingenious initiative by the BCA and we are thrilled to be able to align the passion and engagement of Auburn fans with the Back Forty Beer Company” said Jon Cole, General Manager of Auburn IMG Sports Marketing.  “This creative marketing by the BCA should gain momentum in the future and is an excellent benefit for their members.”

“Small Business Game Changer” was open only to small businesses located in the state of Alabama that are BCA members in good standing. Further eligibility restrictions applied.
