Small Business: The Backbone of Our Economy

The Business Council of Alabama recognizes that small businesses provide the majority of jobs for Alabamians, and protecting their entrepreneurial efforts sustains job growth. We are proud that nearly 85 percent of our membership is made up of small businesses.

BCA fights every day for the rights of small business men and women. Our Small Business Committee is on record as supporting protecting economic development funds currently allocated for small business development programs and encourages recognition of, and support for, entrepreneurial enterprises as essential to the state's economic development program.

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year, Small Business Saturday is on November 29.
