During each state election season, ProgressPAC Regional Advisory Committees, the ProgressPAC board of directors and the Business Council of Alabama board of directors work together to devise and approve a slate of candidates to be endorsed and supported by ProgressPAC. In recent years, your diligent efforts for those candidates endorsed by ProgressPAC have helped elect a group of public officials who can advance Alabama's position into the 21st century and the global marketplace.

ProgressPAC: A Respected Force Standing Tall for Progress and Opportunity

It is on the strength of financial contributions from BCA member companies and concerned individual businessmen and women that Alabama's business community is able to stand toe-to-toe against the anti-business forces that are working hard every day to unravel our legislative victories and derail the progress that has helped bring fairness and balance to Alabama courtrooms.Leveraged with the participation of fellow business leaders from across Alabama, BCA member dollars and votes at the ballot box make an important difference for the future of Alabama.

Consider this -- The nearly 5,000 companies that belong to the Business Council of Alabama employ more than 750,000 Alabamians. If you multiply that by the number of family members and friends each has, BCA member organizations have the ability to completely change the face of Alabama government and put our state's economy on the path to greatness once and for all.

The Business Council of Alabama's ProgressPAC consistently makes a real impact on the outcome of Alabama elections. In the judicial elections of 2000, every candidate endorsed by BCA and ProgressPAC was elected to office. The result was a sweeping change in the makeup of the Alabama Supreme Court and the election of a majority of conservative justices committed to fairness and upholding the rule of law. In addition to great legislative victories in 2002, ProgressPAC's first-time endorsement in the governor's race had history-making impact with the election of Governor Bob Riley. And in 2004 the election of two more fair-minded conservative jurists to the Alabama Supreme Court further strengthened a high court that for far too long had been rife with judicial activism. These leaders elected in recent years, who share your vision for fairness, a strong business climate and a thriving free enterprise system in Alabama, are now working for you and all the people of our state with a progressive vision for Alabama's economic future.

In 2006 and beyond, the goal of BCA and ProgressPAC is to help elect a majority of pro-business lawmakers to both houses of the Alabama Legislature. With the leadership of dedicated BCA members, we will help build a legislative majority comprised of lawmakers who understand the challenges facing Alabama's hardworking businessmen and women and are willing to stand up for business at every turn.

While we're proud of our past successes, we must remain committed to our present goals. And there is much more work to be done.

It is critical that we work together and wisely leverage our resources to ensure that the future for Alabama business and industry is preserved and protected for the long term. As a ProgressPAC contributor, the rewards of your leadership will extend well beyond today's headlines. Your leadership today will strengthen the future of your business, enhance the opportunities available to your children and grandchildren, and improve the quality of life for your family, your neighbors, your community and the four million other citizens who make Alabama their home.

In other words, a contribution to ProgressPAC is an investment that will yield valuable dividends for years to come.
